Sadika Sultana Chowdhury earned her PhD in Sociology from Chittagong
University. She was awarded a Professional Fellowship by the Bangladesh Academy
for Rural Development (BARD) to conduct research on the "Traditional
Handloom of the Hill Tract." She presented her paper titled
"Contribution of Women of Chittagong Hill Tract through the Handloom
Industry in Socio-Economic Development: A Case Study" at an international
conference. Previously, she completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in
Sociology from the Department of Sociology at the University of Chittagong. Dr.
Sadika possesses 15 years of pedagogical experience in sociology, having
embarked on her teaching career in 2008. She has been a member of the Sociology
and Sustainable Development Department at Premier University since January
2019. Prior to her appointment at Premier University, she served at two private
universities. Furthermore, she has extensive experience collaborating with
various NGOs, research institutions, and educational organizations. Her
research interests encompass health, climate change, sustainable development,
culture, ethnicity, and social issues. Dr. Sadika has conducted nine research
works utilizing primary data, all of which have been published in peer-reviewed
journals. She has authored numerous articles in daily newspapers addressing
various social concerns. In addition to her academic endeavors, she has engaged
with several organizations, including Prothom Alo Bondhusava, the Sociology
Association, and the Alo Chaya Foundation. Moreover, she is an enlisted speaker
at the BTV Chattogram Centre.
